Which Balance Beam Scale To Buy

If you're looking at getting a physician's balance beam scale, you are aware of that they are more accurate, repeatable, and long lasting when compared with other styles of weighing scales and over the long term ought to be more affordable than upgrading the normal strain gauge and also digital scales every several years. You may have 3 manufacturer selections: Detecto, Health-o-meter, and Seca. Price isn't an option for the reason that careful shopping unveils less than a 15 dollar price difference between these three brands when one compares the equivalent designs. Just before choosing, I explored the net for testimonials and information. Getting little, I got into contact with 7 merchants which sell them (5 distributed all three, 2 didn't sell Detecto) and 2 companies which calibrate & fix physicians scales. I asked each one which scale they might obtain for their own home and why.

Here is the review:

Detecto looks like a champion out of the gate. It is the only brand manufactured within the US. On the other hand, checking out pictures I located on the net, the fit and finish would not seem to surge to the level of the other 2 brands. Moreover, nobody I talked to recommended Detecto. The eliminating factor: Detecto has reduced their warranty from the industry standard 2 years to 1 year. Folks, this happens when the 2-year warranty is definitely costing them too much money and it doesn't speak nicely for their quality.

Health-O-Meter. brand is owned by Sunbeam and it's manufactured in China. Fit and finish are good and yes it has a 2-year warranty. My mom and dad and my brother both own Health-o-meter balance beam scales and highly recommended them. Moreover, not one of people I contacted had anything unfavorable to mention about them. One put it best when he claimed Health O Meter vs. Seca seemed to be basically a Ford vs. Chevy argument. I really do not feel one could go wrong investing in the Health-o-meter version. They're great scales and should offer the needs for anyone for many years to come. If you buy a Health-o-meter be sure to get the 402kl or the 402lb because they are the best of the line (the EXP is just not as strong and the CERT version isn't worth the extra money).

Seca is a German firm and the 700 model is created in China. Fit and finish are excellent and it has a 2-year warranty (the 5-year warranty shown throughout the net is not correct, get in touch with Seca if you ever don't trust me). All 700s have built-in wheels (optional and will cost you extra on the other 2 brands). Additionally, everybody I contacted chose Seca over Health-o-meter. Most select based on its modern, much less clinical overall look, several believed it would be more durable in the long term since it outweighs the other 2 brands by no less than 10 pounds, and one stated she had never had a Seca returned.

I obtained the Seca 700 'pounds only' model with integrated height rod (5 bucks extra and I enjoyed the looks) and have had it for more than a month. It arrived well packaged and required twenty minutes to assemble. It was properly balanced right out the box plus the weight was dead-on. It can be greatly repeatable; the weight should stay the same regardless how many times you step on and off. The heavy extra-wide cast iron foundation and the inherent toughness of the circular column design speak very well for long-term durability. The balance beam scale is made from thick aluminum and is very robust. The beam has 1/8 of a lb graduations (the other brands 1/4 of a pound), is easily read, and the design of the beam `pointer' makes it very easy for one on the scale to tell when the beam is level and the weight is correct. I also love the sleek look.

Main point here: I prefer the Seca 700 and suggest it without hesitation to anyone. I'm extremely pleased with my selection. You can find out more about balance beam scales at http://balancebeamscalesite.com/
